College Counseling

Please visit College Counseling's new Wiki Pages - filled with new information for the 2012-2013 School Year.

Our College Counseling program helps students and their parents sort through the myriad of college options by assisting them in learning how to identify groups of schools where the interests and talents of their child can be fully developed. Students and parents are guided through this very exciting time by the concept of "match". We emphasize that there are in fact, many outstanding schools for every student.

Mr. W. Craig Partridge brings over 33 years of experience in independent schools and college admissions to guiding parents and students through this process, which includes advising students in the area of course preparation, preparing and presenting applications to college, recommending criteria for discovering personal match, financing college, and readying students for college visits. Families are encouraged to be active participants. Regular attention, regular reexamination of goals and objectives, and partnership are the keys to a successful college search.

We offer a comprehensive approach to preparing our students for college entrance tests, beginning with stressing the important role our curriculum plays in test preparation.

A test center for both the ACT and SAT, we have arranged for alternate Sunday testing so that Jewish holidays and Shabbat may be observed. Selected dates for alternate testing occur in December and June for both examinations.

FAMILY CONNECTION
Family Connection from Naviance Succeed is a Web-based service designed especially for students and parents. Family Connection is a comprehensive website that you and your child should visit regularly to help in making decisions about course selection, researching colleges, testing for college, and to access other resources available through the College Counseling Office. Family Connection will allow you and your child to:

*   Get involved in the planning and advising process – Review grade specific timelines and manage deadlines for making decisions about colleges, build a resume, complete on–line surveys, investigate careers, and more.

*  Research colleges – Use the college maps, college look-up, search and match features to identify colleges that match your needs and aspirations.

Family Connection also lets us share information with you and your child about grade-specific college meetings and events, and other resources for researching colleges, careers and scholarships.  In addition, the site includes a link that your child can use to send and exchange email messages with the Office of College Counseling.  To visit our School’s Family Connection site, use your Web browser (Firefox is recommended) to connect to: http://connection.naviance.com/adelsch

When you visit the site for the first time, please enter your personal registration code provided to each parent in the New User box and follow the on-screen instructions to create your own account.  Please note that your child is receiving a different code, and that each code may be used only once. Once you have established your own account, you will be able to sign in to Family Connection via the School’s web page, under College Counseling.

We know that you will find this resource helpful. If you have further questions about Family Connection, do not hesitate to contact Mr. Partridge at (702) 515-8270.
