Adelson Educational Campus - Private School Summerlin Las Vegas

Our History

THE SEEDS TAKE ROOT

At the root of the world’s eminent cultures is the importance of education, supported by deep-seated values and pride in heritage.  In 1980, the Hebrew Academy Las Vegas, opened at the original Temple Beth Sholom in East Las Vegas. Eight years later, Las Vegas businessman Milton I. Schwartz and others identified the need for a Jewish day school that offered a strong secular and Judaic education for elementary-aged children.  Because of their foresight and commitment, the Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy became the first Jewish community day school in Nevada.

As a focal point in the Jewish community, The Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy dedicated itself to the hallowed tradition of learning and moral principles.  As years passed, another need arose when Las Vegas became a large multi-cultural city. There was a growing need for exceptional quality independent day schools, particularly one that focused on traditional Jewish values of caring and community.

Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson answered the call and committed a major gift and visionary plan to the community.  In November 2006, with the groundbreaking of The Adelson School in Summerlin, they planted the seeds for a state-of-the-art campus to enrich our community.

Already, The Adelson Educational Campus has grown in unimagined ways. Propelling from 145 students in 2006, to 500 students today, it has emerged as an innovative model that serves the community by offering superior academics built on Jewish values.  Our students learn in a safe, drug-free environment where everyone knows their names.  Families, especially those who have moved here recently and are seeking a foundation in their new home, welcome the caring support they find throughout the campus.

The long-term success of The Adelson Educational Campus cannot be a solo endeavor.  Rather, it will require the effort of many.  Consider the leading communities that rally around their schools by contributing time and money to ensure that students receive the best possible education. We ask you to join us as we continue on this unimaginable journey!
