The Adelson Campus Language Department teaches students to express themselves fluidly and spontaneously in the language of instruction. Leveled language courses are designed to provide students with the opportunity to acquire linguistic communicative abilities as well as a better knowledge and understanding of current affairs, cultural, and literary topics. Area of instruction include: reading and listening comprehension using the target language; oral and written communication using the target languages; and understanding and analyzing critically the contributions that other societies have made to civilization through literature, art, film, and music. The languages currently offered at the upper school level are: Spanish, French and Hebrew.
In middle school all students learn to speak, listen, read and write in Hebrew. Using the Neta program, the students are placed in classes at the appropriate level to continue their language learning. Whether the student joins the middle school and is taking Hebrew for the first time, or is a fluent Hebrew speaker from Israel, our teachers work to improve our students’ skills. Spanish and French are also offered to interested students as an elective course.
The mission of The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus is to instruct and inspire new generations of students who will draw strength from a rich Jewish heritage, use their knowledge, values and vision to fulfill their own potential, and build a better world.
The Adelson Educational Campus accepts students of all faiths and affiliations. We contend that students who interact with diverse students in classrooms and in the broader campus environment will be more motivated and better able to participate in a heterogeneous and complex society. By creating a diverse community, we are preparing our students to be the citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
