
Mr. Allen received a BA in Mathematics from Franklin College of Indiana and spent several years after graduation "experimenting" with a variety of careers. After trying everything from digging ditches to climbing the corporate ladder, he decided education was the only truly rewarding profession, and earned a BS in Secondary Education from Indiana University and his MS in Mathematics from UNLV. Mr. Allen has been teaching for over 15 years.
Mr. Atencio came to us in 2008 from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles where he was a science teacher and the Assistant Dean of Students. He earned his BS from the University of Richmond, Virgina in Chemistry and Physics and his MS in Chemistry from UCLA. He teaches physics and math, and is dedicated to producing students who can face the world in an inquisitive way, questioning intelligently and thinking for themselves. He is the faculty advisor to the Model United Nations.
Laura Bruni ESL, ESL Specialist

Hans was born and raised in culturally and linguistically diverse Belgium. After finishing his B.A. / M.A. in Philosophy/Ethics, he travelled to the East where he worked as a philosopy and language lecturer at a university in Northern Thailand for some 18 years. There he met his wife and they settled in Bologna, Italy for a year. They got married in a medieval church in Flanders in 2007 and applied for the necessary papers to move to the U.S. While waiting for the official papers, he taught History and French at a Belgian High School. He moved to San Francisco in 2008, after having worked a season as a tour guide in Southwest Turkey. He has since taught Philosophy at a College in Oakland, French and Social Science at multiple schools in the Bay area, and helped Google by mapping the world before joining the Adelson Educational Campus.
Courtney received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester, in 2003, and her Secondary Mathematics Education certificate from Notre Dame College, in 2008. Courtney moved to Las Vegas in 2010 with her husband Eric and lovable pit bull Miko. In 2010 she joined the Adelson Campus as an Upper School Math and Physics teacher. Before pursuing her love of education, Ms. Fox was an addictions counselor for women in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has been teaching since 2006 and strives to inspire her students to enjoy the worlds of math and science by making learning fun and engaging.
Victoria Ginsburg joined the Adelson Campus in 2010 as a 9th-12th grade English teacher. Prior to teaching at The Adelson Educational Campus, Victoria worked for various Middle and High Schools both in the public and private sector spanning over 15 years. Originally from Thousand Oaks, California, Victoria moved to Las Vegas in 1988 to pursue an education career. As a result, Victoria has earned two degrees from the University of Nevada Las Vegas: B.A. in English, M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently working on her doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership from University of Phoenix. Victoria also has a student enrolled in the Lower School. They both love to travel on the weekends, watch movies, play with their two cats.
Naomi Guy has been teaching more than 35 years, the majority of which has been in middle schools and high schools in Israel. Born in Jerusalem, she joined The Adelson Educational Campus as a Hebrew teacher in 2005. Her main goal is to teach Hebrew in Hebrew, and represent Israel and its culture to allow her students to be able to apply their Hebrew to real-life situations. Her educational philosophy is that all students love to learn, and that a teacher’s duty is to encourage them by making the teaching more interesting, challenging and meaningful for them. Ms. Guy holds a master’s degree in general and Jewish history from Israel’s Hebrew University. Additionally, Mrs. Guy spent four intensive weeks at Boston’s Hebrew College with educators from all over the United States, immersing herself in the art of Hebrew language teaching.
Betsy Hoff comes to The Adelson Educational Campus via the New York City school system. Holding an undergraduate degree in sociology and secondary education and a masters in business, she is proud to call herself a lifelong learner and brings this passion for education into the classroom. Ms. Hoff draws on her varied experiences as an international management consultant, professional development director and adjunct college professor to foster an appreciation of professional and cultural diversity in her students. Having lived abroad, gone dog sledding in Lapland, camped under an African moon and climbed glaciers in New Zealand, Ms. Hoff enriches her teaching by impressing upon her students that all of life’s experiences are opportunities for learning.
Milly started her teaching career in 1991 as a Language Arts teacher at the Emerson Academy in Louisiana. As passionate advocate for student critical thought development, Milly has created and implemented various programs that increase student achievement and engagement, both in the independent school environment and with at-risk youths. She is a teacher consultant, having been selected by the renowned Southern Nevada Writing Project to participate in their 2011 Summer Institute. She completed her BA from the University of Memphis with a major in English and a concentration in British Literature. Milly has taken various graduate courses at the University of New Orleans and will receive her Masters of Education from the University of Nevada in 2012.
Michele Kaufman, Administrative Assistant
Bryan Kessler brings a wide range of interests to The Adelson Campus. Bryan originally hails from New Jersey and New York City and holds an undergraduate degree from Rutgers College, a masters degree from the University of Virginia, and a teaching credential from UNLV. Bryan has extensive experience in art and history museums in the promotion of Judaic/Holocaust Education, having worked in the curatorial departments at the Museum of Jewish Heritage:A Living Memorial to the Holocaust and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He currently serves on the Nevada Governor's Advisory Council on Holocaust Education where he is working to promote Holocaust Education throughout the state. He recently completed the design and taught a specialized course on the Holocaust and Intolerance for the Clark County School District which resulted in the exhibition "Making Their Story Our Own" at Congregation Ner Tamid for Yom HaShoah 2011.
Hava Lurya was born in Israel, and has over 30 years experience teaching Hebrew and Judaic Studies in America and Israel. Most recently, she was a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher at Yavneh Day School in California. She holds a doctorate of education from University of Budapest, and her bachelors and masters are from Bar Ilan University in Israel. Her daughter was a member of the Adelson Campus graduating class of 2011. Hava has four daughters and five grandchildren. She enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with her family and friends. She is excited to be able to share her love of Israel, Hebrew, and Judaism with everyone at the Adelson Campus.
Dr. Paul Mahoney, Head of Upper School

Prior to entering K-12 education, Dr. Mahoney was a university scientist and faculty member at the University of Missouri. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Doctorate in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and conducted post-doctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Mahoney made the move to private K-12 education in 1998 as founding science chair at Columbia Independent School in Missouri, shortly after serving as principal investigator in an NIH-funded research effort at the University of Missouri aimed at better understanding why cells become cancerous. In 2004, Paul Mahoney was a finalist for the position of Educator Astronaut with NASA. Since then, he has maintained close ties with NASA, working with them to improve the science and math curricula for our nation's students.
A native Spanish speaker, Maritza Massopust has been teaching Spanish for over twenty years. Hailing originally from El Salvador, Maritza moved to Germany as an adult to further her education. She eventually settled in the United States with her family, where Maritza taught Spanish at several excellent independent schools for many years. Maritza is fluent in English, Spanish, and German, and has a working knowledge of several other languages!
Abigail Moyal, Technology Coordinator
Abigail Moyal completed a bachelor's degree in Literature at Point Loma Nazarene University. During her college years she worked in the library and studied abroad in London, where she had the opportunity to visit 14 different European countries. She is a big proponent of students traveling abroad in their college years. She visits family in Israel every summer with her husband, and continues to follow her passion for adventuring around the world. Abigail Moyal recently earned a teaching license in secondary English from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She plans to begin a masters program in the Spring of 2012. "Shalom, ahava, and seferim!" she says, or, "Peace, love, and books!"
Heather Murphy, Health, Biology & Computers

Heather Murphy is a native to Las Vegas. After graduating from UNLV with a B.A. in Psychology, she moved to Los Angeles and earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Southern California.
While at USC, Heather was an instructor in the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Department. Her focus was on the relationships between culture and health behaviors.
Heather later worked with the Los Angeles Health Care Workforce Development Program, assisting individuals to obtain degrees as health care professionals. In that capacity, she helped develop the computer-training curriculum for college-bound students.
Heather is passionate about education and considers herself a lifelong learner.
Craig Partridge, College Counselor
Craig Partridge brings more than 25 years of college counseling experience from both the private secondary school and university levels to The Adelson Educational Campus community. He works with students and parents to guide them through the college admissions maze, including helping to identify appropriate college matches for each student, guiding students in the preparation and presentation of their credentials, interpreting college entrance testing, evaluating scholarship opportunities, and readying students for college visits. A cum laude graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Mr. Partridge holds a master’s in education, counseling and human services.
Vanessa Reolegio earned both bachelor and masters degrees in mathematics while living in the Philippines. Prior to relocating to the United States, Vanessa taught many different levels of math at two different private schools in the Philippines. In addition, she has worked individually with many foreign students as a mathematics tutor; this work has helped her develop the insight and skills necessary to assist all students to learn math.
Melody Hope Stein lives her life like a work of art in progress. Art is her passion, and it is nourished by teaching art. A professional artist who exhibits and sells works in the New York metropolitan area, Ms. Stein has taught art at every level from preschool to adult in both private and public institutions. She has owned an art rubber stamp company, published a national art magazine and owned an art business in Las Vegas. Currently president of the Las Vegas Polymer Clay Guild, she runs the Bottles of Hope program at the Nevada Cancer Institute.
An accomplished Jewish musician, Joel Swedlove has served as the Head Songleader for camps and synagogues throughout the United States. Having performed and studied with some of the biggest names in Jewish Music, Joel provides the Adelson School with a unique voice and personality. While studying Film at Arizona State University, Joel found that his true passion was in Jewish Music, and teaching children that they are able to express their culture through music. Joel brings an energy to all of the classrooms, during Shabbat, and the various Holiday shows throughout the year. Joel is constantly working to ensure that the students at the Adelson School not only have a knowledge of the rich history of Jewish music, but also are learning about contemporary Judaic and Israeli Music. He looks forward to singing with the wonderful Adelson students for years to come.
Jocelyne Uy has been teaching math since 1992 in grades K-12, as both a private tutor and classroom teacher. She has also practiced as a licensed immgration attorney in Michigan, Nevada and Canada. In 2007 Ms. Uy joined The Adelson Upper School math department. She continues to challenge her students to think out of the box, self teach, analyze and solve problems independently. She is honored to serve as math department chair for The Adelson Upper School and is dedicated to positive and successful development of the math department.
Music has been the focus of Susan Vex's life since, at the tender age of five, she was admitted to Julliard Preparatory School. Continuing her education at the High School of Music and Art, she conducted the choir and orchestra at the opening of New York Citys Lincoln Center. Ms. Vex was certified to teach Hebrew and Judaic music at age 17, and after graduating from Queens College, received her license to teach K-12 music. She had a successful career in show business, appearing in major productions all over the world. Ms. Vex has taught at the former Hebrew Academy/Adelson Campus since 1998, and chairs the music department at The Adelson Upper School.
The mission of The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus is to instruct and inspire new generations of students who will draw strength from a rich Jewish heritage, use their knowledge, values and vision to fulfill their own potential, and build a better world.
The Adelson Educational Campus accepts students of all faiths and affiliations. We contend that students who interact with diverse students in classrooms and in the broader campus environment will be more motivated and better able to participate in a heterogeneous and complex society.
