The Adelson Educational Campus (AEC) is a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees who collaborate to uphold the school’s mission and to render decisions in alignment with the vision and strategic direction of the school. The board consists of business, legal and education professionals, current parents, and parents of alumni.
Sheldon G. Adelson, Chairman
One of the most successful CEO’s in American history, Mr. Adelson revolutionized the business paradigm in the computer and hospitality industries. He founded the trade show COMDEX which, according to a New York Times article, “...became the signature annual event for the computer industry.” Mr. Adelson went on to become the founder, chairman, and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., a Fortune 500 Company with resorts in Asia and the United States. A global philanthropist, he and his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson, have earned international accolades for their vast contributions to medical research, education, and the fight against drug abuse. Together they co-founded the Adelson Educational Campus. He is the father of AEC alumni and grandfather to current AEC students.
Philip Kantor, Secretary
Mr. Kantor is a practicing attorney primarily in the fields of trademark, copyright, and advertising law, as well as business law and litigation. He holds a B.A. from Yale University; a license from the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne); and an M.B.A. and J.D. from New York University. He is a board member of the former Jewish Community Day School of Las Vegas and the parent of an Adelson Educational Campus alumni.
Tom Spiegel, Executive Committee
Mr. Spiegel is an American entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. He is the Chairman and CEO of Linq3, a product and technology company that is revolutionizing the lottery experience. Previously, he was President and CEO of Columbia Savings & Loan, a California based financial institution.In 1985, he founded The Thomas Spiegel Family Foundation which invests in programs that elevate the field of education and medical research, improve life outcomes for the less fortunate, and showcase Jewish heritage and culture.
Dr. Miriam Adelson, Trustee
Dr. Adelson is a leading medical professional in the field of chemical dependency and drug addiction. She has authored numerous scientific papers on the effects of drug addiction and serves on the faculty of Rockefeller University as a guest investigator. She opened the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse Treatment and Research in Tel Aviv and Las Vegas where she regularly attends to patients. In 2018, Dr. Adelson was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump. The award is the highest civilian honor in the United States bestowed annually to those who have made outstanding contributions to either the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. Dr. Adelson is co-founder of the Adelson Educational Campus. She is the proud mother of AEC alumni and proud grandmother to current AEC students.
Sivan Dumont, Trustee
Mrs. Dumont currently works in asset management having begun her career in corporate finance at Goldman Sachs. She holds a B.A. in Physics and Astrophysics from U.C. Berkeley. She is the proud mother of three Adelson Educational Campus students.
Neville Pokroy, Trustee
Dr. Pokroy has been a practicing nephrologist in Las Vegas for more than 2o years. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cape Town Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Pokroy is the proud father of a Hebrew Academy graduate and the proud grandfather of three Adelson Educational Campus students.
Barry Shrage, Trustee
A passionate advocate for Jews around the world, Mr. Shrage has worked tirelessly to create an inclusive community and drive positive change. As president of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston from 1987-2018, he was a powerful voice on the American Jewish communal scene. He is known throughout the world for his tireless support of Jewish education; his promotion of engagement by religious and nonreligious Jews; his commitment to working for social justice at home and abroad; his strong support of Israel; his bridge-building, outreach and engagement with the non-Jewish community in creative partnerships; and his boundless energy and creativity. Mr. Shrage is currently Professor of the Practice in the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program at Brandeis University.
Benjamin Yerushalmi, Trustee
Mr. Yerushalmi is a graduate of the former Hebrew Academy. He now serves as Vice President of The Jewelers, Inc. after having earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. As a board member, he follows in the footsteps of his father, Mordechai Yerushalmi, a past member of the Adelson Educational Campus Board of Trustees. Mr. Yerushalmi is the proud parent of AEC students.
Rabbi Joyce Raynor, PhD, Trustee
Rabbi Raynor served as AEC’s former Head of School from 2015 to 2019. A native of Baltimore, she attended rabbinical school at the University of Judaism (renamed the American Jewish University) in Los Angeles before the Conservative Movement ordained women and accordingly received an MA in rabbinic literature. She holds a PhD from Duke University’s Department of Religion and has worked as a curator at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and the National Maritime Museum in Haifa. Rabbi Raynor has worked in Jewish education for over thirty years as a Judaic teacher, High School Principal, and Head of School.
