AEC Seniors Attend Mayors Prayer Breakfast

Thursday, November 16, 2017
The Mayors Prayer Breakfast is an annual fundraiser held to benefit Camp Anytown. The goal of the breakfast is to bring education and hope to our future generation.

The Mayors Prayer Breakfast was founded over 50 years ago when Las Vegas Mayor Oran Gragson attended a President’s Prayer Breakfast hosted by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Mayor was so moved by the experience that he brought the event to Las Vegas.

Participating this year was the mayors of Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas and the vice chairman of the Clark County Board of Commissioners. The keynote speaker is Senator Richard H. Bryan.

As in the past, local high school students attend, making the event an intergenerational celebration. Immediately following the breakfast the students remained to participate in a town hall meeting with our mayors to discuss their questions or concerns, moderated by Chair of the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada, Gard Jameson.

Proceeds benefit Camp Anytown Las Vegas, a program of the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada, that empowers youth in leadership skills, human relations and diversity.
