Our students then welcomed our guests who shared about their military experiences and showed off their neat artifacts. We had guests from the U.S. Air Force, Marines, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and the British Royal Air force. Students had an opportunity to interact with them by asking a number of questions related to their military experiences. Following the session, students showed their gratitude and appreciation by writing thank you cards to these individuals. Our 5th grade students made a video message for all veterans, thanking them for their service.
In the spirit of Tikkun Olam our students participated in the Jewish Soldiers Project, where our students made Hanukkah cards that will be delivered to Jewish soldiers, who are actively serving in the U.S. Military around the world. Additionally the entire Lower School collected Tzedakkah on Friday and wore red, white and blue on Veterans Day for a $1 donation. $768.42 will be donated to the Kline Veterans Fund. 3rd Grade Shabbat
This Friday in Shabbat, we learned about Rosh Chodesh Kislev- The new month of Kislev, which falls on this coming Tuesday. In Kislev, we have the Holiday of Hanukkah and we started getting into the Hanukkah spirit. Please enjoy the Shinshinim’s presentation about Rosh Chodesh Kislev and our 3rd graders dancing and singing to the song “Latke Recipe” by the Maccabeats.During our weekly Shabbats we are adding new Shabbat songs. This week we worked on the song using the text from Exodus 31:16-17 . This text reminds us that we celebrate Shabbat as a sign of the covenant with G-d. G-d created six days and on the Seventh Day G-d ceased from working.
