Deborah Thorne received her Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State University and continues to study early childhood education through online studies with Childcare Education Institute. Deborah was born and raised in San Diego, CA and then moved to Hawaii years later. As a mother, she decided to get involved in her daughter's Preschool and Kindergarten classroom, and soon became a literacy coach and taught grades K-5th with the Hawaii State Public School System. Twenty years later, teaching is still her passion. Deborah's main focus in the Junior K classroom is phonemic awareness and math skills. She infuses creative movement, songs, and social awareness activities into her daily lesson plans. With a background in ballet and yoga, she incorporates body movement as a fun and exciting way to learn. After leaving the islands, she continued to teach at the Pre-K level as lead teacher in Seattle, WA in the private sector and became certified and trained with the Puget Sound Partners literacy program. Deborah looks forward to her fourth year with the Adelson Junior K program. Deborah's motto is: "A Happy Class is a Learning Class."
