Alexis was born and raised in Michigan, where she attended Michigan State University. She graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors in Child Development and a minor in Elementary Education. Alexis moved to Las Vegas in 2007 and began working for CCSD where she was nominated for New Teacher of the Year. She taught Kindergarten for 5 years and First grade for 6 years. In 2011, Alexis received her Masters of Education from UNLV in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2016, Alexis was nominated for The Heart of Educationawards. Alexis believes that children learn best through play and explicit instruction in a safe, supportive, and caring environment. She focuses on creating a caring community within her class and encourages students to have a love of learning. Outside the classroom, Alexis loves spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as teaching and practicing yoga. This will be Alexis's 3rd year teaching at Adelson.
