Courtney Stern loves being a student nearly as much as she loves teaching them. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Literature from the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara before continuing to the 2-year SCALE law program at Southwestern and then passing the California State Bar exam. She spent 7 years as a practicing attorney with a focus on business and employment litigation before deciding to switch careers and become a teacher. She went back to school to earn an M.A. in English as well as her Secondary English credential from California State University, Northridge. After teaching in California private schools and LAUSD for three years, she moved to Las Vegas where she joined Teach for America to teach in low-income public schools. In addition to a wide range of English teaching experience, she has taught various courses in law, journalism, and debate. She is also a National Board Certified teacher in English for Adolescents and Young Adults. She loves dogs and currently shares her home with her husband Ben and their three dogs.
