The Adelson Lions have ended the regular season with an epic win over Agassi Prep 56-55. This is the first time in school history the Lions have defeated Agassi Prep and we did it on their home court. Our Lions scored on a layup with 20 seconds left in the game to go up by one point. With 13 seconds left senior Jake B stole the ball and Miles wrestled for a loose ball to win the game! This is the first conference loss for Agassi this season and they were stunned. The Lions are now headed to the playoffs and listed as the #2 seed. Earlier this week was Senior Night and the pregame ceremony was full of tears and excitement. This has been the best season in AEC Basketball school history and we are so proud of all our players. AEC Soccer Star Commits To Case Western Reserve

News Type:
Thursday, February 2, 2017

National Signing Day is the first day that a High School senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for college sports. On Wednesday, February 1, AEC star soccer player Nevo Ziv sat in the Adelson Campus main gymnasium surrounded by family, coaches and friends to officially commit to Case Western Reserve University.
“I selected Case Western Reserve because of its excellent academic reputation for Engineering, which is what I want to study,” states Nevo. “I was recruited over the summer at the Future 500 Soccer camp and then, after the official campus visit, I knew this was the perfect fit for me.”
Nevo comes off an undefeated season (12-0-1), leading the team in goals scored (19), assists (10) and shots on goal (92). “Nevo has been a standout performer for Adelson soccer, dating back to his 5th grade year,” claims Coach Dan Kelly. Nevo has been a 4-year varsity starter and team captain for 3 years. He is the all-time leader in goals for Adelson with 51 and has finished in the top 10 in Las Vegas for goals in his junior and senior years. “As the statistics show, Nevo has been a tremendous asset to the team’s success these past three years, " says Coach Naftaly. “Also, he epitomizes what a student-athlete should be by combining a strong academic ability in the classroom with a tenaciousness on the pitch.”
“For all the school’s we looked at, academics was always my first priority. However, it was really important to me to also play soccer at the next level; and, I couldn’t be happier about attending Case Western Reserve and playing for the Spartans,” beams Nevo.
Nevo’s parents proudly sat by his side and recalled all the early morning workout drop offs, summer camps and the overall commitment it takes for a team of people to make a day like today possible.  “We are so proud of Nevo and feel he is in good hands at Case Western University,” boasts Noam, Nevo’s father.
Nevo had thought of this moment as a young student and claims, “you must love the game and continue to be passionate about it. All the hard work and effort over the years was fun for me because I love the game.”
“Congratulations to Nevo Ziv for his outstanding accomplishment of having the opportunity of playing collegiate soccer at Case Western Reserve University next year. Nevo is our 3rd student athlete in our 7 graduating classes to have had the opportunity to extend his playing career into college,” states Coach Kelly. “He is one of the most committed and hardest working athletes we have had in any sport at our school. It’s fitting that he is also an outstanding student in the classroom. Nevo has done a great job representing Adelson as one of our top performing student athletes and we wish him the very best at Case Western Reserve.”

Undefeated Season for AEC Varsity Soccer

News Type:
Friday, October 28, 2016

The AEC Varsity Soccer team went 12-0-1. That’s right, an undefeated season! As the season progressed and the team continued to win, it was obvious to everyone that this year was special and each week you could see more confidence and sportsmanship on the field. “It wasn’t something directly addressed until the last two games,” claims coach William Naftaly. “Besides going undefeated, the biggest highlight of the season was being able to beat Pahrump twice this year.” Pahrump has been a team the Adelson Lions have struggled against over the past three -years, losing six straight.

“We played Boulder City, by far our toughest opponent, on the last game of the season and we all knew our undefeated season was on the line,” states coach Gary Foresman.

Another key moment in the season came against a very competitive team, Boulder City. The Lions were down 1-0 at on the road back in September, but were able to maintain their composure and pull out a 2-1 comeback victory. “We played Boulder City, by far our toughest opponent, on the last game of the season and we all knew our undefeated season was on the line,” states coach Gary Foresman.

The game was a nail-bitter, but with a big home crowd on senior night, the Lions pulled off a defensive masterpiece with a 1-0 victory! “It was such a fun environment and exciting game to be a part of,” says a smiling and prideful coach Naftaly. We are all very proud of our Adelson Lions for a great, undefeated season!
