Student Athletes of the Year
Ben Elharrar
Basketball-This young man was a leader of our team. He was not only a great player for us, but a great teammate and student as well. His work ethic and desire to be better set an example for the rest of the team to follow.
Baseball- I’m proud that he was part of our team this year. He was very unselfish and was willing to play wherever the team needed him. He improved tremendously as the season went on and was a key contributor for us.
Soccer- It’s been a pleasure to coach this young man these past three years in soccer. Not only has he been instrumental in our success on the field, he is the epitome of a student-athlete. While handling his academic requirements, he was willing to put forth the effort and dedication to make the team better. I know basketball is his real passion, but I will always be very appreciative that he desired to play soccer for Adelson because he cared about the school, and wanted his teammates and coaches to be successful. Besides goalie, he played every position and ended his senior season as a captain.
Vanessa Voltz
Cross Country - she holds the school record for female cross country 5K time and qualified for the state finals this year. She is the definition of an athlete who can compete on a moment’s notice, with admirable success
Basketball- It’s no surprise to me that this young lady is winning student athlete of the year. She is a great teammate and improved greatly as the season went on. She is a hard worker both on the court and in the classroom. She is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete.
Swim - She is the kind of athlete that coaches love to coach.  She has a tremendous work ethic and desire to improve.  She is an intelligent person, and she applies her intellect to her sport.  She looks at a stroke, breaks it down, and thinks about how to work with the positive and negative drag forces of the water in order to get faster.  Her mental strength also shows in the way she trains.  She digs into tough sets and seems to almost enjoy the suffering because she knows it is going to make her better.  After swimming the 500 at Regionals she told me that she loves that race because it hurts.  The fact that she does not run from the tough stuff, but rather seeks it out, is the kind of thing that makes her such a pleasure to coach.

Head of School Announces Retirement for June, 2019

News Type:  Alumni News Athletics News Lower School News Upper School News Startup Incubator News Date:  Wednesday, April 18, 2018 Byline:  Matt Boland
Dear Adelson Campus Families and Friends,
The Board of Trustees and I are writing to you today to announce my retirement as of June 30, 2019.  At that time, I will have completed 36 years in education, and 4 years as your Head of School, which has been a major highlight in my career.
The decision to retire is solely based on my desire to spend time and enjoy my husband, children and grandchildren. As some of you may already know, I was previously planning to retire back in 2015; however, the opportunity to lead a school with the reputation, vision and potential as Adelson Campus was too tempting to pass up. I was challenged and inspired to help transition the school with a new structure, sound policies, improved communications, and financial stability. Going into my final year, I remain fully committed to the success and sustainability of this great school and look back with pride on its achievements.
The search for a new Head of School is currently underway. An open, collaborative partnership between a Head of School and its' Board of Trustees is vital to an independent schools success.  The Adelson Campus Board understands its role in stewardship, commitment to strategic governance and support for the Head of School.  The Board's strength in leadership speaks volumes about our school's stability, now and in the future, and will be a very attractive feature to candidates for the Head of School position.  As I prepare to bring my joyful engagement at Adelson Campus to an end, I am committed to working with the Board of Trustees and their appointed search firm in any way needed to ensure a smooth transition in leadership for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The Board has appointed the search firm Independent Thinking to assist in the process. Jane Armstrong and Bill Lyons, the partners, plan on visiting Adelson Campus on April 30 & May 1, to meet with the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, students and families. During this time, the search firm will host two open parent meetings, which will provide opportunities to share your thoughts about Adelson Campus and ask the team from Independent Thinking any questions you may have about the search process. Once we have the times and location for these meetings, we will send out an email next week with more information.
I want to express my respect and gratitude to the faculty who live our Mission each and every day.  It is a privilege to work with educators committed to excellence in the classroom, who challenge students to maximize their full potential and instill a deep sense of personal independence and social responsibility in a community of learners. I also am grateful for the professionalism, support and teamwork exhibited by our dedicated staff members, especially my Administrative Team.  I want to thank our families for entrusting your children with us and for being partners in this process of an Education for Life.
I have seen my work here as important and rewarding, and I will miss Adelson Campus very much; but, I will leave knowing our culture is strong, strategically aligned to create our own future and this dynamic community will continue the legacy of this wonderful school for generations to come.
