On Wednesday, Second graders went on their first field trip to The Clark County Wetlands Park. The students experienced an immersive, hands on learning experience as they were introduced to the wildlife of the wetlands. They each participated in a scavenger hunt in which they found plants such as the cottonwood tree and desert mistletoe, animals such as a dragonfly and a beaver, and even evidence of animal life such as burrows and coyote scat! This week, our Kindergarten classes continued their study of community with a field trip to Spring Mtn. Ranch. With this experiential learning opportunity our students were able to explore some of the oldest buildings in Nevada, which included a sandstone cabin, blacksmith shop, and the historic ranch house. Sukkot Experience Many of our Preschool families enjoyed a wonderful Sukkot Experience on Thursday night. Each grade level had the opportunity to sing Sukkot themed songs and dance with their teachers in front of friends and family. We said the blessing and shook the 4 species (Lulav, Etrog, arava, hadas) together as a community. Pride in Jewish Values  As our students transition from Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, a time of reflection and atonement, we now direct their attention to the joyous festivals of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah. Pride in Excellence  3rd grade Field Trip to Springs Preserve  This week, our third grade students went on a field trip to Springs Preserve  to enhance their year-long study of Native Americans. While at Springs Preserve, they had the opportunity to see a Paiute village and learn more about the culture and daily life of this tribe. Pride in Excellence  Kindergarten started their social studies unit of “Me on the Map.”  The students will learn about their community, city, state, and country.  To start the unit, the students have read books about community, which tied into their field trip to Albertsons this week. This field trip is an example of an interdisciplinary approach to a unit of study.   Pride in Excellence  First grade went on a fun and engaging field trip to The Natural History Museum.  Students explored the prehistoric life, marine life, and wild Nevada galleries.   Pride in Excellence  On Tuesday 9/17, our 1st graders will be attending the first field trip of the year for the Lower School. They will be attending the Las Vegas Natural History Museum as part of their units on climates. Field trips are a very important aspect of our curriculum and the experiential learning process. Pride in Excellence  Our morning enrichment program will begin on Monday, September 9th. K-5th  Back to School Night  We had a wonderful showing of parents at back to school night on Wednesday.
