At Adelson we believe in the power of an integrated curriculum. Our JK and 2nd graders have both had events this week that focus on their current units of study, units which expanded into every academic subject.   Our 2nd graders have been learning all about symbols; in particular symbols of the United States, Israel, and Nevada.  Symbols have a deep impact on us as a society, giving us something to rally around and something that is instantly recognizable.  Math, social studies, science... Our students celebrated Israel this week with Yom Ha’azmaut,  Israel’s Independence Day! Israel is celebrating 70 years since becoming an independent state in 1948, and here at Adelson we observed that with RUACH (spirit) and much joy. Students played games such as a giant Shoots and Ladders, created art, participated in Israeli dances, and learned cool trivia facts.   Watch the video: Lower School Yom Ha’azmaut Celebration. Passover is a special time where we remember not only the biblical story of Moses and Exodus but also the gift of family and togetherness. Students learned about this holiday through song, theater, research, and taking an active role in the Seders. This helps continue the tradition of Passover as a family event. During our educational learning process of Passover, we saw a spiral growth from grade to grade. Our youngest preschool students (18 months and 2’s) experienced being part of the... Read More
