This school year, Adelson sixth grade students were involved in a unique shared experience called Two Deserts – One Sky project. This innovative collaboration between Shri Jasnath Asan, an ashram in northwestern India, and environmental educators in southern Nevada, U.S.A. was implemented in fall of 2016. The goal was to connect students, ages 8-12, in the Mojave Desert of southern Nevada with their peers in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan in an effort to promote global environmental education... AEC Sophomore, Owen Retzer, will join SurgiCorps International as a non medical volunteer this summer. Surgicorps International provides free surgical and medical care to people in need in developing countries. Owen will join his parents in Guatemala, and is fundraising specifically for medical supplies for their trip. Upper School students also celebrated Yom Ha'azmaut on Thursday with an afternoon of fun and special activities to honor Israel's 70th Birthday. Grades 6-12 started off in the auditorium for a lighting ceremony and then cheered a spirited performance by the Lower School students.  Students enjoyed a delicious Israeli themed lunch with games and activities, followed by Israeli trivia and sports. Last year, when attending a freshmen Startup Incubator class, AEC sophomore Emily Miller, designed a small game app in GameSalad. From that, Emily created, in Adobe Illustrator, an adorable unicorn character. At the same time, Emily was building an Instagram following (around 1000 followers) for a "Squishy" profile and shop.  She flipped valuable squishies for profit in order to build seed funds for a forthcoming venture.    Now a sophomore, Emily sent her unicorn design to a manufacturer... UPPER SCHOOL Students across the country walked out of their classrooms on Wednesday, as they called for safer schools and stronger gun-control legislation following last month’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Instead of walking out, Adelson Campus High School students joined together in the theatre to honor the 17 people who lost their lives.
