HS Adventure Dome: Our High School students had a great time at Adventure Dome this past Wednesday! There were so many smiles, and so much laughter. It was wonderful to see our students having such a great time outside of school with their peers and teachers. Poetry Slam 2018 We were thrilled to welcome back Clark County Poet Laureate Vogue Robinson and Battle Born Slam Emcee AJ Moyer to our campus for the fourth year in a row. During their brief residency, these visiting poets guided Adelson high school students in creative writing workshops over two days that focused on craft, structure, content and performance. On October 27, the Jewish community was attacked by an anti-Semitic perpetrator, murdering 11 innocent lives, at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Multiple schools across the nation participated in wearing all blue to school, spreading awareness about antisemitism. We made this a Tikun Olam project, by asking all students who chose to wear blue free dress, donate a dollar. Seniors attend Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast: Over 400 students from local high schools along with 8 of our Adelson Seniors (David Poura, Brent Warner, Maya Tomasik, Elisabeth Kac, Kennedi Templeton, Leanne Steward, Richard Zhu, and Nicole Derei) attended the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.   Our students were chosen by teacher nominations. SCHOOL SPIRIT High School spirit week has been full of Super Hero excitement all to culminate with the Homecoming Dance, Saturday, October 13 from 8:00-11:00 pm at AEC. On Thursday, the High School held a fun and action-packed Pep Rally with ice cream sundaes, a flag football game and tons of positive school spirit. 6th GRADE CAVE PAINTING This project was created to develop research skills, primarily, as well as explore the nature of storytelling and communication and the lives of early man.  The students are using (almost all) authentic materials – horsehair, moss, authentic mineral pigments – to create their art. On Wednesday, our 6th graders took a field trip to the Valley of Fire State Park as part of their science, social studies and English classes.
