READING WEEK Many high school students had the happy opportunity to read to preschool and lower school classes this week in celebration of Reading Week. NEVADA READING WEEK – MARCH 5-9, 2018 More than thirty years ago, Bill Abrams, Nevada State Department of Education, with the help of a group of teachers, conceived the idea of a week-long celebration of reading to be observed in every school in the state of Nevada. MIDDLE SCHOOL This week our 8th grade students participated in the YourSPACE program which focuses on educating teens on recognizing healthy and unhealthy relationships, understanding consent and communication skills, and finding resources if they find themselves in dangerous situations. MIDDLE SCHOOL Spirit Week - Middle school students celebrated school spirit by traveling through time, celebrating class unity through color, expressing themselves with crazy hair and hats, and enjoyed a school wide game of dodgeball.   The 8th grade Judaic honors class had a very special guest speaker this week, Kristina Coneh. WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK: Sam Grundwerg, Israeli Consulate General, Los AngelesThe Student Council put on Spirit Week this week in preparation for Sadie's Dance, which is Saturday night from 8:00-11:00 p.m.  The theme of the dance is video games from the 80's.  Students wore totally tubular clothes and rad hair to get in the right head space for the dance.   High School students had the opportunity to meet and speak with the Israeli Consulate General from Los Angeles, Sam Grundwerg. MIDDLE SCHOOL Fifth and sixth graders went to Mt. Potosi on Tuesday.  During the day, students enjoyed hiking around the area, creating art to celebrate Tu B’Shvat, trying their hands at archery, and a themed scavenger hunt that incorporated learning in several disciplines.  The sixth graders stayed the night and enjoyed a night mission and talent show.  On Wednesday, the sixth graders were up early to see the rare super blue blood moon in the pristine skies free from the city lights.  The...
