Welcome to the AEC Parent Teacher Organization

OCTOBER, 2020

SEPTEMBER, 2020

Hello from the Adelson PTO!  We are excited to update AEC parents on the PTO’s most recent and upcoming virtual and non-virtual events for this school year!

First, a resounding thank you to all of the parents who participated in and contributed to the first virtual PTO meeting of the school year.  Attendance was strong and the ideas shared were valuable. At the meeting, we outlined the various events being planned for this school year and we look forward to parent volunteers joining and/or chairing any one of the event committees – including the Golf Tournament, Hanukkah Event, Appreciation Initiatives, and Book Fair. Thus far we are pleased to have accomplished:

  • Our virtual Honey Bake on September 13th was and a hit! We raised $520 for Aishel Avraham, a charity that provides food for local Jewish families in need.
  • The Shinshinim (our visiting student Israeli emissaries) arrived safely on Thursday, September 17th.  The PTO put together an AEC swag bag to get them sporting our latest gear, along with a snack and toiletry welcome basket!
  • Also on the 17th, Rosh Hashanah treats went home with each student and faculty member. A huge shout out to Emily Litt for helping to assemble and sort the treats for each class.
Lastly, have you heard about our SHOE DRIVE?   We are asking AEC families, faculty, and staff to donate any and all gently used shoes.  Just put all the shoes you are donating in a plastic bag and drop them in the shoe collection box located at the guard gate as you enter for carpool.  Please remember to tie the pairs together.  These shoes will help underprivileged communities find homes for their feet.  We have a goal of 2500 pairs (100 bags at 25 pairs per bag).  We have no doubts that we can surpass this goal!  We plan to launch the Shoe Drive after Yom Kippur. It will run through the end of October. A flyer will come home shortly with more details!

Please email your interests, availability, and questions to pto@adelsoncampus.org.  We look forward to having as many parents on board as possible!
TOGETHER…let’s continue to grow and strengthen our great community during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,
Drew Saldana
PTO Board Historian, 2020-2021

JOIN THE PTO DIFFERENCE

Volunteering at school is a great way to show your child that school is an important part of your family’s life. Following are ways in which you, your child, and your family benefit from participation in the PTO.

YOUR CHILD BENEFITS.  Students whose parents demonstrate an interest in supporting and participating in the well-being of the school get higher grades, develop better social skills, and show improved behavior at school. Students who feel supported at home and at school develop more positive attitudes, have more self-confidence, and place a higher priority on doing well.

YOU'LL TAP INTO AN INCLUSIVE NETWORK. PTO functions are opportunities to build relationships with other parents. Through shared ideas, talents, and experiences, parents can collaborate on positive and innovative ideas that contribute to the growth of the school and the community.

YOU ARE PART OF THE SOLUTION. The PTO plays an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based and extracurricular programming, and social events.

YOU CAN SHARE YOUR SKILLS.  Your child will beam for weeks after his or her parent comes to school and shares a career, hobby, or even just their time helping out at the Book Fair. Whether you are a stay-at-home or working parent, all parents have individual talents that they can contribute toward making a difference. Whether you participate in giving your Time, Talent, Treasure, or any combination thereof, it’s all of great value and much appreciated by the school community and the PTO.

YOUR CHILD WILL FEEL A SENSE OF PRIDE.  Your involvement in the PTO inspires pride in your children. They may not admit it (they may even grumble), but they feel proud seeing their parents as leadership role models, working to enhance their school experience.  Your involvement demonstrates to your child the importance you place on education and being a part of their world.

YOU HAVE FUN WHILE DOING GOOD.  Our PTO has helped in small ways (such as organizing holiday treats for the students and faculty) as well as with large-scale projects (such as the Back to School Car Parade or the annual gala). Working together to achieve mutual goals builds bridges to commonality and fun!
