Parent Organization

Welcome to the AEC Parent Organization

Happy Summer to all our families!  Your Parent Organization board members send sincerest wishes for much deserved time off from the difficulties of the past few months. We hope you will relax and enjoy the remaining summer days in good health and safety.
Please note that our name has changed from Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to Parent Organization (PO). The organization’s mission has evolved through the years to include parent volunteers only who work to support our teachers in addition to the greater school community.
We are excited to be working hard this summer to plan for another incredible school year of fun and meaningful events and activities.  These unprecedented times have us thinking outside of the box to reimagine community engagement that follows protocols to ensure the safety of our school community.
What we learned from this past year was that we are stronger together.  Despite the altered school year due to the COVID pandemic, we are moving forward with the same enthusiasm that we shared at last year’s Purim Carnival, Book Fair, Pkwy Tavern Parent Night Out, Family Fun Day, and other events that united us as a community.  We know firsthand how bringing the community together makes for a rich and rewarding experience for all.
We are looking forward to bringing our children back to school in August and want to support you as you prepare this summer. On Monday, July 13th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., we will host our first Used Uniform Sale of the year on the outdoor patio of the dining commons.  There will be lots of new inventory to choose from and a special treat from the KONA Ice Truck to keep you cool while shopping outdoors! In a follow-up email, we will share social distancing guidelines, including how to schedule an appointment. We look forward to seeing all our families. Remember to wear a mask. Safety protocols will be strictly observed.
Please mark your calendars for the second Parent Organization Used Uniform Sale on August 3rd, and the Welcome Back to School Car Parade on campus on August 9th.
We look forward to lots of volunteer participation this year from our parents. We appreciate the diversity that our community offers in time, talent, and treasure.
We know these uncertain times call for an extraordinary amount of patience and open-mindedness.  We welcome whatever you can contribute and appreciate your open hearts and minds as we journey through this year together.

PURIM 2020

The Megillah has been read, the decorations taken down, and the games and bounce houses have been packed away. Vivian Levisman, Danielle Pokroy-Mizrachi, and the Adelson Judaics department had a spectacular vision for the Purim Carnival this year, and the PTO was glad to play a role.
It all wouldn’t have been a success without help from the following people and so many more:
Vendors: the following vendors were huge supporters and helped us stay within tight budgets tremendously.
Sound Fusion Entertainment:
Balloons with a Twist:
The following volunteers helped us tirelessly and we couldn’t have made the event a success without them. Thank you !!

Shana Tova from the AEC PTO

Shana Tova! PTO had a busy month getting ready for Rosh Hashanah. We had our first fundraiser of the year, the Honey Cake and Ceramic Honey Set sale. Getting more than 100 cakes ready was a huge task. A big thank you to Melanie Lewis for creating the delicious honey cake recipe and doing all the shopping! We were able to use some of the money raised to buy every student a honey stick as a sweet beginning to the New Year. We also baked and packaged mini honey cakes for all the AEC Staff (160 people) as a gift from the PTO. A special thank you goes out to Robyn Hooton, Jaye Hooton and Milenne Aldana for their help assembling and baking honey cakes.

Family Fun Day was a blast for the PTO. We enjoyed making apple bird feeders, bracelets and key chains with the kids.. Thank you to all who visited our table.

We will be having a used uniform blowout sale on Monday, October 7, from 3:00pm-6:00pm on the second floor landing in the Upper School. We will be selling skirts, pants and spirit wear for $1. We will have polos, outer wear, and Shabbat shirts for $5. Hope to see you there!
