Audrey Kammerer from the Summerlin Library gave a presentation to our JK - 2nd grade and our 3rd - 5th grade students on Tuesday morning. She read “Don’t Take Your Dragon to the Library,” and shared information about all that the library has to offer and the special events that take place at our local libraries. Each child should have received a programs calendar in their communications folder to keep you up to date on the Summerlin library programs for the remainder of 2018.
Our Kindergarten classes had a special visit from Officer Deavers and Officer Johnson from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. This was in conjunction with our Kindergarten unit on communities. The officers taught them about what they do for our community and what it takes to become a police officer. The students learned about the special equipment that an officer carries on their belt and they even had the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of the patrol car.
Our K- 5th grade students braided challah for Rosh Chodesh. We would like to thank our November sponsors:
Eric and Ying Anderson for Barbara in Kindergarten.
Michael and Irina Nikhman for Mia in Kindergarten, Jacob in 4th, and Nathan in 5th grade.
Ben and Jill Super for the Rachel’s birthday in 5th grade.
Jamie and Alli Abrhampson for Liv’s birthday in the 2nd grade.
Thank you to all of the parents who participated in parent conferences on October 25th. We value the opportunity to work together in helping our students succeed. It is our hope that the conferences served as an adequate update as to how your children are doing thus far for this school year. We look forward to continuing to work together for the remainder of the school year.
Our Student Council Election will take place on Tuesday, November 6th. Our 3rd - 5th graders have been campaigning over the past month vying for a position within our student council. We are very proud to see the excitement and energy that our students have exhibited throughout this process. Our students have displayed courage, respect, and determination through this experience and we are excited to tally the votes on election day!
