AEC education is education for life! Our teachers and administrators are lifelong learners and tomorrow they will immerse themselves in a day of learning. Highlights of the workshops include: Project Based Learning, Rabbinic Text Studies, Math workshops, Learning through the senses, etc. We are appreciative of this special time to learn as a community and to further develop our knowledge. It is meaningful for our students to understand that their teachers are students too and that learning is happening all the time.
At AEC, we value professional development and encourage our teachers to grow in their profession, to pursue courses and advanced education, and to share their knowledge with others by sharing in school and by presenting at conferences.
Who knew the farm can teach us so many things? - Junior Kindergarten students have been learning about the farm in an integrated approach: The students are learning about all the fun things that happen on a farm, the work that is being done there, the animals, and how farms look. They are learning interesting facts about cows, horses, and hens, enjoying painting their own red barns, and even dressing up like farmers in dramatic play. Language arts and math is incorporated through counting and graphing farm animals, and exploring the classic story “Rosie’s Walk” by Pat Hutchinson. Retelling the story together in circle time allows them to practice reading comprehension and inspires creative writing at the writing center.
