Shabbat Performance
We welcomed special guests Rinat and Gal, who gave us a special Tu B’Shvat performance for all three of our Shabbat celebrations this Friday. Through a set of fun songs and dances, our students learned how important it is to treat trees, plants, and flowers with respect and to recycle items to keep our planet clean in honor of Tu B’Shvat (Birthday of the trees).
Police Officer Visit
Our students in the 3s program are learning about the Letter “P”  this week as part of their Letterland curriculum. The students were surprised with a visit from two Police officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday. The police officers read a book to the children and let them have an opportunity to sit in the police cruiser. The students had a fun time finding the letter “P” located on the exterior of the police cruiser.
Google Expeditions
Our Lower school teachers were introduced to Google Expeditions during their Monday staff meeting. They enjoyed learning about this teaching tool that goes beyond the classroom. Through virtual reality and augmented reality, teachers can go beyond what is limited by the space of the classroom. Virtual reality lets students explore the world virtually while augmented reality brings abstract concepts to life—allowing teachers to guide students through collections of 360° scenes and 3D objects, pointing out interesting sites and artifacts pertaining to their specific needs and units of study.
Jump Rope Unit
In Physical Education our Kindergarten through 5th grade students are participating in their annual jump rope unit. Students earn a star for the star chart for jumping continuously for 1, 2, or 3 minutes. Our younger students in Kindergarten and 1st grade are credited with their total amount of jumps if they can’t meet the different minute thresholds. Our top jumper this year was 3rd grader Kyle Reid who jumped for 7 minutes and  7 seconds straight. This unit is a test of endurance and concentration and our students did a fantastic job as they improved over the course of the month.
