Remote Learning Week 4
Although altered, we hope that families had an opportunity to have a meaningful Passover. We were excited to welcome our students back (virtually) to school from Spring Break this week. As per the school communication on Wednesday 4/22, we will continue remote learning for the remainder of the school year. Over Spring Break, our teachers have prepared for more meaningful and interactive ways to meet the academic needs of our students. There has been an increase in live communications in preschool - 5th grade and opportunities for small group work in our K- 5th grade. We continue to analyze, research, and reflect on best practices in the realm of remote learning. We are extremely pleased with how well the students are responding to this learning environment. 
 
Yom Hashoah 
This Tuesday marked a very important day of the year (Yom Hashoah). Yom Hashoah is when we take time to remember and  honor those who survived and those who perished in the Holocaust. Our 5th graders and Lower School staff had the opportunity to participate with the Upper School in a meaningful ceremony commemorating those affected by this historic tragedy. We were able to hear from Holocaust survivors as they told their story hope to our 5th - 12th grades students. View the Yom Hashoah Resource page
 
Kindness Initiative 
Continuing with our kindness initiative. Ms. Kendra has recorded a read aloud of the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today.” Please allow your children to view this wonderful message of kindness by clicking the link. You can subscribe to other read alouds on her channel. Also please work on the Kindness Bingo Challenge

Challah with the Tecktiels

Challah Recipe
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
4 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon vanilla

Bread machine directions:
Put wet ingredients in first, followed by dry.  Mix on dough setting.  When complete put on counter, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.  Braid (may need to add a bit more four) and cover the dough again. Let rise for at least 45 minutes.  Brush with egg wash made of 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon on water.  Top with seeds of your choice.  Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.  ENJOY!
