“The sun will come out tomorrow!”
It has been almost 42 years to the day that Annie opened on Broadway (April 21, 1977). This uplifting story of optimism has captivated audiences young and old, and we were excited and grateful to have had the opportunity to share it with the Adelson Educational Campus. Our dear Annie and her friends teach us valuable lessons that apply to our lives-- mainly that the sun will come out tomorrow. A better day always lies ahead of you, especially if you stay optimistic and keep your friends around you. Occasionally, life offers some hard-knocks, but how you deal with it and who you do it with makes a world of difference. The characters in our production come to learn that a smile really is the best accessory for any look. It can change your outlook on life and maybe even the outcome of events. A smile brings happiness to those who share it and those who receive it. We wish for you that you will continue to wear your smile happily, just like Annie. We thank our amazing community for all of their support from the first auditions in September to our amazing performance in May. Thank you to our supportive parents, our upper school student helpers, and our dedicated and talented teachers who worked with students on stage and backstage during this year-long production.
Shabbat Performance: Macholohet
This morning, our Kindergarten - 7th grade students enjoyed a performance and interactive dancing with a dance company from Israel named Macholohet. It was wonderful listening to Israeli music and watching professional dancers. The students were able to ask questions to our guest performers and to learn about the different experiences that these dancer have. Macholohet is a private dance school that was established 12 years ago out of a desire to give expression to the field of dance in the city of Ashkelon and in all of the southern region. The older group participated in performances in Israel and abroad a few days ago and the band returned just from an international dance festival in Thailand. In the last four years, the Jewish community in Los Angeles and the Mati organization have been in partnership with the band. This is the fourth year that the band will arrive for a tour as part of the Memorial Day Ceremonies and Independence Day celebrations in Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, and San Diego.
Baby Bears and Pandas End of Year Celebration
The Baby Bears and Baby Pandas enjoyed a fun “parent and me” end of year celebration on Thursday. Parents, teachers, and students sat on the floor and sang songs together in this wonderful gathering that had real feel of community. The celebration continued on to the classroom where we were able to enjoy refreshments and reflect about how wonderful the school year has been for our Baby Bears and Baby Pandas. Thank you to our Baby Bears and Pandas teachers for such an amazing year. View Photos
Green Caterpillars and Green Frogs End of Year show
Our little Caterpillars and Frogs and their parents enjoyed a wonderful celebration where the students sang songs about shapes, letters, kindness, diversity, and colors; all elements of their curriculum. They were very proud to show their parents how much they have learned over the course of the year. The celebration continued to their classrooms with refreshments and parents were presented with their child’s year long work portfolio. Thank you to our wonderful 2s teachers for such an amazing year. View photos
Project Beyond Junior Shark Tank
Our Project Beyond Junior students had the opportunity to participate in their very own Shark Tank experience. Based on the popular television show, “Shark Tank” where business owners present their product to investors in hopes of striking a deal to help build their company and to promote their product. Our PBJ students created their own products and pitched it to the “Sharks” (Mr. Kelly and Ms. McCue). Great job to these creative and innovative children, who worked very hard on this project. Thank you Ms. Oshins for leading an amazing year in Project Beyond Junior. A full update with photos and results will be featured next week.
