In our first week back to school in five months, students and teachers united together for in-person learning while wearing masks and social distancing. We are so proud of how everyone has embraced the new procedures and the positive attitudes our students and faculty showcase on a daily basis.
WILD ABOUT READING
Last year, our Wild About Reading program resulted in nearly 200 additional books being read by our Kindergarten through 5th grade students. For each book read, students submitted creative art projects, interesting vlogs, or insightful critiques. Our Wall of Readers outside the library was overflowing with incredible submissions. Our top readers for the 2019-20 school year were eligible to receive a gift certificate for $50.00 donated by Barnes and Noble. The lucky winner was Jacob Rubin. Our other top readers were Ethan Cohen, Zenn Danner, Amelia Kartasynska, Elena Kartasynska, Oscar Morris, Aleen Ozana, and Mila Richards. With the start of a new school year, we will soon be announcing our second annual Wild About Reading program. This year will be slightly different to allow us to adhere to safety protocols and social distancing guidelines. Get ready to pick up your favorite book and start reading. More to come….
Our fifth grade class (Ms. Oshins and Morah Nofar’s class) led this week’s Shabbat in the Beit Midrash. They led us in the Shehecheyanu blessings. The Shehecheyanu blessing is a blessing we say every time we do something new for the first time. This is a perfect blessing for the beginning of the new school year and the first Shabbat. Blessed are You, L-rd our G‑d, King of the
Universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and
enabled us to reach this occasion.
The fifth grade class also led us in a song about new friendships. What a special way to welcome new friends who joined our school community.
The song is called New Beginnings by Musical Playground. WATCH VIDEO
All other classes enjoyed Shabbat in their classrooms, singing Shabbat songs, reciting the blessings, and having a wonderful class community time.
