This Week in Lower School 9/24-9/28, 2018

LS students fulfilled the mitzvah of sitting in the Sukkah while enjoying snacks and lunch.
Many of our preschool families enjoyed our wonderful Sukkot Experience on Thursday night. Each grade level had the opportunity to sing songs and dance with their teachers in front of friends and family. We said the blessing and shook the 4 species(Lulav, Etrog, arava, hadas) together as a community, and had interactive stations, which included arts and crafts, story time, building blocks, and planting in the garden. The stations were led by our preschool teachers, the Shinshinyot, and our farmer from Garden Farms. Families also enjoyed pizza and cookies, while we listened to Sukkot themed music. Our Sukkah was decorated with paper chains made during our Tashlich event and with decorations made by some of our preschool classes this past week. Thank you to all of the families and staff members who attended this great event!
Today we celebrated Simchat Torah, the holiday that marks the completion of reading the 5 books of the Torah and starting all over again, with a joyful Hakafot ceremony. Our students, teachers, and parents danced with the Torah, after hearing the students from National Junior Honor Society explain about the Simchat Torah celebration, chanting from the Torah the last verses of the last Torah portion, and the first ones from the first Torah portion. Our Shabbat was enhanced by the AEC band who played beautifully- it is always special to celebrate together with our older peers.
We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday,
Lower School Leadership Team
