This Week in Lower School 9/4-9/8, 2017

At AEC we believe that our educational journey should include academics, values, community, and even swimming. We are teaching to the whole child; we provide opportunities to learn and develop life skills alongside rigorous academic abilities and achievements.
Our students are learning to swim figuratively and literally during their time at AEC  - swimming in the pool and navigating life. It is our responsibility to offer them many opportunities to develop and be ready for a healthy, happy, safe, and fulfilling life. Over the last few weeks, this has been seen in a literal sense as our students strengthen their swim skills in the AEC pool.
Our Junior Kindergarten through 5th-grade students enjoyed our first swim sessions of the school year. Our Physical Education team, who holds standard lifeguard and WSI American Red Cross certifications, taught our students about water safety and specific swim techniques. Our younger students worked on floating, body positioning, and the basics of freestyle/backstroke, while our older students practiced the more technical aspects of freestyle and backstroke. Safety was a top priority during these lessons, and seeing our students thrive and grow was a treat.
As we teach important values, Tikkum Olam shines as a major responsibility our students are proud of. As such, our students have been inspired to initiate a drive to aid students of Jewish schools in the Houston area. Please consider donating school supplies, books, board games, Hebrew items, etc. Financial donations will also be accepted. We would like to support more than one Jewish school.
Donations can be dropped off in the Lower School Lobby.
Third Grade conducted a Shofar Factory with Rabbi Meital...more.
