Seniors attend Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast:
Over 400 students from local high schools along with 8 of our Adelson Seniors (David Poura, Brent Warner, Maya Tomasik, Elisabeth Kac, Kennedi Templeton, Leanne Steward, Richard Zhu, and Nicole Derei) attended the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.   Our students were chosen by teacher nominations. The event was an intergenerational celebration. After the breakfast, the students remained to participate in a town hall meeting with our mayors to discuss their questions or concerns.   The Vegas Golden Nights organization sponsored the event.
Deputy District Attorney visits Adelson Law Class:
Nell Christensen, Chief Deputy District Attorney at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, presented to our law class this week.  She taught the class about the role of a prosecutor in Clark County, discussed some really interesting cases, described a new program to decrease recidivism and increase reentry rates, and even showcased Sin City Justice, a reality TV show specifically about her office.  Students enjoyed their Q&A session where they learned what it really takes to be a prosecutor.
Middle School Trip to Mt. Zion Update
AEC 7thand 8thgrade students stayed right outside of Zion National Park at the Zion Ponderosa. For our big hike, the students went up to Bryce Canyon National Park where students selected hikes that interested their level of desired challenge. Some of the trails our students accomplished were the challenging Navajo Loop and the breathtaking trek from Sunset Point to Inspiration Point and back. Students were in awe at the wonders all around them, above them, and below them at different parts of the trails.
