This Week in Upper School 10/9-10/11, 2017

Wednesday, October 11, 2017
Lucy Jacobs, a holocaust survivor, spoke to a 9th grade Engligh class today. They just finished reading Elie Wiesel's memoir, Night, and they are going to the Holocaust Museum in DC in the coming weeks. It was an honor to have Ms. Jacobs share her story with the class.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and our upper school raised almost $150 yesterday in a PINK OUT (pay $1.00 to wear pink) to donate to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. Help raise money for Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation by ordering an Adelson PINK OUT t-shirt designed by junior, Nuriel Sussman.  Pay your $8.00 to Nuriel Sussman by Tuesday, October 17th.  Order yours today!
This week our Upper School students participated in the Hearts 4 Vegas program.  The City of Las Vegas has requested cards dedicated to the victims, survivors and first responders of the Route 91 Harvest Festival.  A table was set up on the second floor landing with letter writing supplies and students were encouraged to write letters at breaks and before and after school.  All the letters are being delivered down to City Hall today after school.
A second project for our High School is up on the landing as well.  There were twins who attend Faith Lutheran, who are  seniors.  They were both shot in the attack.  A banner was made and on display where high school students were encouraged to write well wishes and words of encouragement as they recover.  The banner will be delivered to Faith Lutheran on Thursday with all our well wishes.
Students had a blast while raising $122 for the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation by paying to play in grade vs. grade and students vs. teachers dodgeball games yesterday. Juniors, Bailey Kermani and Dana Bluevise ran the games and Coach Kelly refereed.
