Pride in Excellence:
Already this semester in the first full-fledged year of the ACE program, Seniors and some juniors presented status updates on their ACE projects to an audience of peers, mentors, and administrators. It is gratifying and inspiring to see the variety of interests students have within their majors as well as the depth of knowledge, thought, and learning they are gaining as a result of their projects. In this first semester of this year long experience, students have already accomplished a great deal of research and are at different stages of prototyping, working in internships, or conducting field research. The AEC community will be invited to the final presentations coming in May.
High School students concluded exam week with the Ugly Sweater Open Mic Night. There were many awful sweaters worn, some of them hand created, and wonderful poetry and musical performances. Students enjoyed being able to share this time with one another in the spirit of fun and celebration.
We are thrilled to report that the Class of 2020 is finding remarkable success this year in college admissions offers from Chapman University, Denver University, Emory University, Fordham University, Indiana University, Miami University, Pepperdine University, and Yale University.
Pride in Community:
Spark Joy was an initiative to spread some fun and excitement during final exam week. Students were treated to a goodie bag from the PTO that had sweets and a stress ball. High school Student Council treated students to apple cider and a donut decorating station. Middle school Student Council provided hot chocolate and cookies and the US Leadership team and faculty gave students popcorn and also bubble wrap to pop. Last but not least was an upper school favorite, our Librarian, Ms. Nails, coordinated to have therapy dogs come during the exam breaks every day.
