We are proud of their commitment and their involvement in a nationally recognized art and writing competition. Congratulations, winners!
Middle School Hebrew students are leaving their footprints across the school. Students were challenged in Hebrew class to create goals, whether it be academic or other life goals as we all walk into the new year. The Hebrew teachers are so proud of the high achieving students we have in middle school.
Pride in Community
High School welcomed the 8th graders for Shadow Week. 8th graders chose up to four high school classes at any level they wanted to see and then shadowed high school students in those classes. Teachers involved the 8th graders in the lessons, which allowed them to envision themselves in these classes and understand the level of academic rigor involved. On Tuesday, the 8th graders made their presence known by participating in the Karaoke Battle Royale put on by Student Council during Pride. The week culminated in High School Unfiltered hosted by the Adelson Ambassadors, including a special lunch complete with games, treats, and “unfiltered” conversations about life in high school.
Our theater department continues to work hard both on and off stage to present The Drowsy Chaperone this spring to our AEC community. It is amazing to see our middle and high school students and staff working together on this production.
In Middle School, the exciting announcement will be made next week about the new Improv Troupe. Stay tuned for their name and students who are part of this new and exciting opportunity.
For Rosh Chodesh, high school Student Council with the help of Mr. Philippus hosted the Karaoke Battle Royale and invited the 8th graders to participate! Each grade had different groups perform favorite songs. Although the judges found it difficult to choose because there were any great performances, the 8th and 9th graders took home the win and earned free dress passes for their stellar group karaoke!
Middle School Student Council was excited to invite our 5th graders to participate in an escape room this week while their parents were learning all about the middle school experience. I am happy to report that all of our 5th grade students were not only able to escape, but did it in record time.
Pride in Jewish Values
Tu Bishvat gets its name from the date on which the holiday occurs, the 15th of the month of Shevat. A Jewish holiday referred to the new year (or “birthday”) of the trees. Our students celebrated Kabbalat Shabbat and Tu Bishvat at the field, surrounded by beautiful trees and nature. There are 630 Mitzvot (good deeds) in our Jewish life and we have 635 trees in our campus!!! Can you believe that? Mrs. Garrett presented a beautiful piece of decorated tree that she did for her children and grandchildren. The program concluded with students creating trees from recycled items.
Shabbat Shalom and Happy Tu Bishvat
