What you need to Know:

CELEBRATION OF WRITING
The English Department is hosting a Celebration of Writing from 3:30-4:30 on Wednesday, February 8th in the Dining Commons.  Come see all the amazing ways students from 3  to 18 years old engage in writing across the curriculum, play games, and hear students read their original works.  Light refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!

MIDDLE SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL DESERT CLUB
Last quarter AEC Middle School teachers Paula Garrett and Samantha Koehler hosted a Mojave desert club. Students from that club participated in a project linking students from the Mojave Desert (AEC students) to students in the Thar Desert of India. As part of that project both sets of students went on field trips in their area and learned about their deserts and the species that live there. They took photographs and connected to the students across the globe. This was part of a larger project and included students from other CCSD schedules and NV Virtual Academy as well. There are a series of partners ranging from UNLV to the National Endowments for the Arts. See the Flyer.

Resulting from this project; our students photographs will be on display at the Nevada State Museum with an exhibit opening reception on March 12, 2017. All are welcome to attend and our students may be asked to speak during the presentations. Sharon Schafer; the artist spearheading this; will be interviewed on State of Nevada and we will have a write up in Desert Companion magazine. The project was also featured in a major India newspaper.
