MIDDLE SCHOOL
This week our 8th grade students participated in the YourSPACE program which focuses on educating teens on recognizing healthy and unhealthy relationships, understanding consent and communication skills, and finding resources if they find themselves in dangerous situations. They were able to have a wonderful discussion about personal and community safety and had such insightful questions and comments.

AEC 7th and 8th grade students recently had the opportunity to take part in the Junior Lifeguarding program. PE teachers Becky Lamph and Aaron Turnier spent two weeks teaching preliminary lifeguarding skills with plenty of physical fitness drills. Junior Lifeguarding has a strong focus on developing swimming skills to help participants meet the Lifeguarding course prerequisite. The course also introduces participants to lifesaving skills, such as in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, and first aid, CPR and AED.

On Thursday, March 1, Middle School students will spend the morning attending their classes each with a Purim twist!  The afternoon will feature the Megillah reading, a costume wars competition, and the ever-popular Purim carnival.  Attendance will be taken.

HIGH SCHOOL
Yesterday, a group of Seniors went to play with the kindergarten classes. They 8 Seniors first introduced themselves and then each kindergarten student did the same as they went up and met the Seniors. After that, the Seniors played with them on the playground during their recess. The Seniors commented how much fun it was. For most, they began their Adelson schooling on that side of the building.

During today's Upper School Shabbats, students had the privilege of hearing from Rabbi Shuchat the rabbi of Congregation Ohr Bamidbar. Rabbi Shuchat shared stories and insights into this week Torah portion.

Purim is next Thursday!  High school students will spend the morning volunteering at different organizations in our community, such as Red Rock Canyon, Pueblo Park, Habitat for Humanity, and Project Linus.  Attendance will be taken!

Art and Arts & Innovation students 9-12th grades visited the Barrick Museum of Art at UNLV today. They saw exhibits of ancient West Mexican ceramic vessels and mixed media artwork of artists with ties to Las Vegas. In this photo, students observe and analyze what they see as well as evaluate what the artist is trying to communicate. The photo on the right is of the group in front of Claes Oldenburg’s Flashlight sculpture.

A representative from the Rape Crisis Center came to discuss important and relevant subjects of the legal definition of sexual harassment/violence with the 11th and 12th graders on Tuesday. The students demonstrated they retained a good bit of information from last year and asked thoughtful questions during the session.   An advocate from RCC came to share with the 9th and 10th graders the important work she does on behalf of victims of sexual assault.
