Project Chesed Silver Sky
This week Ms. Toomey’s 9th grade Project Chesed class took a field trip to visit Silver Sky Assisted Living. Students spent time catching up with the new friends they bonded with in December during their first field trip to Silver Sky. Our students entertained the Silver Sky residents by hosting a talent show. Students told jokes, played the guitar, salsa danced and sang songs! One of the residents even joined the students on stage and decided to sing two songs as well! Both the students and residents had a lot of fun and we look forward to spending more time at Silver Sky in the future.
Thursday night the 9th and 10th grade students along with their Humanities teachers, Ms. Moyal, Ms. Levi-Agami and Mr. Naftly participated in a Lock-In-Overnight.  These brave souls were locked in the school overnight and engaged in games, team building activities, and a service project. They watched a movie and enjoyed popcorn. A fun time was had by all!
Our 9th-12th grade students participated in a special Pride Period seminar where Mr. Girard, our college counselor, led a discussion with students on the latest college admission scandal.  The students were so well informed and had thoughtful comments and insightful questions. Many students look forward to continuing this discussion.
High School Mensch of the Month Awards go to:
Darby Kankoski -  Darby is always pleasant and helpful to her peers and teachers.  She is a great teammate in both volleyball and basketball.
Itai Blank - Itai is always eager to make people feel welcome and comfortable in class.  We've seen him take on the role of peacemaker and seek compromise during debates.
Congratulations Darby and Itai!
This past week, the Shinshiniot have been working with some of our 7th grade students to produce a short video to be entered into a contest sponsored by the Embassy of Israel and SpaceIL, celebrating Israel's advancements and achievements in space.  The premise of the video is that Beresheet, the first Israeli spacecraft to touch down on the moon, meets an alien there named Bork.  Bork is curious to learn about Judaism and Israel. The students had a lot of fun making the video and are finalizing the editing for its entry into the contest.
