Pride in Excellence
AEC Middle School art students recreated masterful works of art using found objects around their home, as seen by Genevieve and Helen's creations. Students have also studied Louise Nevelson and created assemblages inspired by her abstract 3D sculptures, as interpreted by Nathan and Rachel, Emily, and Sophia studied Andy Goldsworthy, an environmental artist, that only uses his hands and teeth as tools. Students created their designs using various materials found in their yards.
This week AEC students celebrated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! Students in 8th-grade Physical Science created presentations about the day or about what we can do for the environment. Please watch this video by Britohn B. and Michael H. about Earth Day.
AEC's 10th grade English class studied mini memoirs this week, as students wrote six-word memoirs about their time in quarantine.
Students in Adelson's National Science Honor Society wrote letters to our local hospitals to thank them for their hard work and unselfish dedication to our local community during the COVID-19.
Pride in Community and Jewish Values
This month, AEC is honoring not just one Mensch of the Month, we are honoring a Family Mensch of the Month.  The Blank students have been instrumental in bringing Shabbat spirit to our community during school closure. They have spent hours invested in rehearsing with our faculty and always with a smile and talent. Please watch the video below to see our Mensch on the Month Family!  Watch Video
This week's Torah portion is called Tazria - Metzora. In this Torah portion, God describes to Moses and Aaron the procedures for identifying and responding to those infected with leprosy. When the world is facing this current pandemic, our "Moses" and "Aaron" are the frontline medical professionals and first responders that are sacrificing so much to identify and help those infected with the COVID-19 crisis. We are thankful to Dr. Harouni, who shared with our community his thoughts about the Torah portion as well as the Rosh Chodesh (beginning of the month) we are celebrating this weekend.
